What’s the narrative here?

  • Tech Access Group (TAG) is a community-centered organization committed to closing the digital divide by increasing access to technology, digital literacy, and workforce development opportunities. Operating under the banner “TAG, we’re I.T.,” we specialize in refurbishing donated electronic devices, distributing them affordably or free of charge to individuals in need, and supporting digital upskilling efforts throughout the community.

  • TAG operates across three core service areas:

    1. E-Cycling and Refurbishing
We collect used computers, laptops, and accessories from schools, businesses, and individual donors. Devices are securely wiped, tested, and refurbished using re-used and upcycled components when possible. Refurbished units are sold through our online store or donated to students, job seekers, and community members who need them.

    2. Digital Equity Consulting
We provide contract-based consulting to nonprofits, municipalities, and community-based organizations that want to launch or expand digital equity programs. Services include device sourcing and logistics, inventory tracking, donation program development, and process optimization for digital access initiatives.

    3. Workforce Development & Technical Training
Through our partnership with techLAUNCH, TAG supports digital literacy and hands-on hardware training programs. Our newly secured space allows us to host on-site workforce development activities, including technical skills training, refurbishing apprenticeships, and paid on-the-job experience. For larger public-facing classes—such as digital literacy workshops—we are building partnerships with local libraries and community centers to serve as training venues.

  • Since launching, TAG has:

    • Secured a physical space to house refurbishing operations, equipment storage, and workforce development activities.

    • Built a diverse leadership team with experience in technology, operations, and community engagement.

    • Established sourcing relationships with schools, offices, and businesses to receive e-waste donations.

    • Developed a scalable process for refurbishing and securely preparing devices for redistribution or resale.

    • Created a business plan aligned with digital inclusion, environmental responsibility, and economic development.

    • Partnered with techLAUNCH to deliver structured, certified digital literacy and workforce readiness programs.

    • Designed a pilot workforce development training program to prepare participants for careers in IT and technical support.

  • TAG is poised for sustainable growth with a clear roadmap:

    • Scale Device Distribution: Reach 500+ refurbished devices distributed annually to individuals and nonprofits.

    • Launch Workforce Training Cohorts: Offer structured on-site training for cohorts of up to 10 individuals, providing hands-on technical experience.

    • Expand Public Class Access: Launch public digital skills classes in partnership with libraries and community centers beginning this year.

    • Secure Nonprofit Status: Establish a 501(c)(3) arm to strengthen grant and fundraising capabilities.

    • Grow Contract Services: Provide consulting to nonprofits and agencies seeking to expand their digital equity footprint.

    • Champion Environmental Impact: Reduce e-waste through circular reuse and upcycling of tech components in our operations.

  • TAG exists at the intersection of sustainability, equity, and opportunity. With our space secured, partnerships forming, and programs underway, we are well-positioned to make a lasting impact on digital access in underserved communities.

Help us make a difference!

We are now accepting donations to our GoFundMe to get our projects fully operational so we can begin our journey of self-sustainability. You contributions will help us secure our startup loan with the assistance of our local Small Business Development Center. We have a long way to go, but with your help, we can get there together. Be a part of something great.

Meeting our goal would mean getting the additional funding we need to succeed in our first year. What does that look like?

  • Self-sustainability after just 90 days!

  • Ability to distribute community microgrants after Year 1!

  • Goal of 200,000 lbs of e-waste diverted from landfills monthly!

All contributions are welcome. If you cannot give, we do ask that you share our campaign! Visibility is important not just for our fundraising, but also our impact.

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”
